We wanted to evaluate the antimicrobial susceptibility testing capacity of the MicroScan Walkaway 96 system on various clinically isolated pathogens.
To this end we compared the minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) reported by MicroScan, for 100 bacteria, with the susceptibility profile reported by Disc Diffusion, E-test and Pheonix (BD) for the same bacteria.
Minor and major error, and the rate of categorical disagreement were extracted from the data. We found MicroScan to be a valid method for AST testing for clinically isolated pathogens in our lab.
